Our client is a technology company delivering advanced software engineering and quality engineering services for complex, real-world systems. Their work combines backend, embedded, cloud, on-premise, and edge technologies, with a strong focus on video, security, IoT, and mission-critical applications.
The company works on products where reliability, performance, and operational stability matter — including video recording and management platforms, alarm and security systems, video analytics, and connected device ecosystems. This creates an opportunity to join a technically ambitious project that goes beyond standard web development and involves distributed systems, media processing, edge deployments, and production-grade engineering.
About the Role
Our client is looking for a Senior Full-Stack Engineer to help build and evolve a modern Next.js 14 product surface deployed both as a hosted SaaS platform and as an on-premise service running on edge devices. The product also includes a partner/dealer portal and embedded iframe-based surfaces used across external environments.
This is a senior hands-on role for someone who can ship complex product features, design full-stack flows, improve technical standards, and raise the quality of the codebase through thoughtful PR reviews, pair-design, and mentoring.
The role combines frontend product engineering, backend integration, media-oriented workflows, cloud storage, database work, and real-world constraints related to video monitoring, edge deployments, and embedded user interfaces.
Key Responsibilities
- Own complex frontend and full-stack features across the hosted SaaS platform, on-device application, partner/dealer portal, and embedded iframe surfaces.
- Build and evolve product areas such as cloud archive, multi-stream video grid, recorded playback, iframe-embed integrations, and detection-zone editor.
- Design and implement full-stack flows connecting Next.js Route Handlers, PostgreSQL, MySQL, S3, backend Go services, and the device fleet.
- Work on media-related backend flows involving video archive, ffmpeg-based processing, S3 storage, and secure media delivery.
- Drive UI/UX consistency across partner portal, on-device app, hosted SaaS, and embedded iframe experiences.
- Own correctness and reliability of embedded iframe flows, including CHIPS / Partitioned cookies, content-height resize reporting, cross-origin authentication, and iframe constraints.
- Contribute to and improve a shared component library based on Tailwind CSS, shadcn/ui, responsive layouts, and container queries.
- Review non-trivial pull requests before merge, with a focus on correctness, maintainability, TypeScript quality, UX consistency, and production readiness.
- Pair with junior and mid-level contributors on complex changes and support technical decision-making within the team.
- Help define and enforce TypeScript, linting, testing, and code quality standards.
- Support preview builds, canary releases, controlled rollbacks, and fast iteration cycles.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience with TypeScript and React in production environments.
- 2+ years of hands-on experience with Next.js, ideally with Next.js App Router, SSR, React Server Components, Route Handlers, and hosted deployment platforms.
- Strong practical knowledge of modern frontend architecture, component design, state management, data fetching, forms, and complex UI flows.
- Solid SQL skills, especially PostgreSQL, with the ability to write schema migrations and reason about data models, transactions, and query performance.
- Familiarity with MySQL or willingness to work with both PostgreSQL and MySQL in the same product ecosystem.
- Experience building full-stack features that integrate frontend applications with backend services, databases, cloud storage, and external APIs.
- Good understanding of responsive layouts, Tailwind CSS, container queries, and UI constraints in embedded or iframe-based contexts.
- Practical knowledge of AWS-based media delivery, especially S3, presigned or HMAC-signed URLs, multipart uploads, lifecycle policies, CloudFront, and IAM scoping.
- Conceptual or hands-on understanding of WebRTC client-side concepts such as RTCPeerConnection, ICE, SDP, media sessions, and browser-level constraints.
- Strong TypeScript standards and ability to improve code quality through reviews, refactoring, testing, and pragmatic engineering practices.
- Experience shipping under tight iteration cycles using preview builds, canary releases, feature flags, and rollback strategies.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with backend, QA, product, and less experienced engineers.
Nice to Have
- Experience with hosted preview deployments and cross-environment environment-variable management.
- Experience building embedded or iframe-based products, such as payment widgets, financial-data connectors, third-party integrations, or partner-facing embedded surfaces.
- Background in video, video surveillance, ONVIF, live streaming, media processing, monitoring, or security systems.
- Experience with WebRTC, video playback, media grids, recording, archived video, or browser-based media applications.
- Familiarity with PHP to TypeScript migrations or modernization of legacy web applications.
- Experience working with backend services written in Go.
- Experience with design systems, shared component libraries, and UI consistency across multiple product surfaces.
